Frequently Asked Questions

Where are Yellow Cottage boards made?
Each board is handcrafted in Ventura, California, inspired by the little yellow cottage where our story began.

What woods do you use?
We source wood with intention — from durable teak and maple to rich walnut, cherry, bamboo, and aromatic cedar. Each piece is chosen for its character, history, and natural beauty.

How do I care for my cutting board?
Wood is naturally antimicrobial and with the mineral oil that’s applied that makes it even more so, so all you really need to do is wipe it down with a damp rag and then dry it off. Never place your board in the dishwasher. To keep it nourished and protected, oil it monthly with food-safe mineral oil or board conditioner.

Can I use my board for both cutting and serving?
Absolutely! Our boards are designed for both function and beauty — perfect for prepping meals, then transitioning straight to the table as a serving piece.

Will the wood change over time?
Yes, and that’s part of the story. Woods like cherry and walnut deepen in color with use, developing a patina that makes each board truly one-of-a-kind.

Do you offer custom sizes or engravings?
Yes! We can create personalized boards for gifts, weddings, or special occasions. Reach out to us for custom options.

Are Yellow Cottage boards food-safe?
100%. We only use woods and finishes safe for food preparation, keeping your kitchen both beautiful and safe.

What makes your boards different?
Every board tells a story. From the carefully sourced wood to the hand-finished details, Yellow Cottage boards are rooted in nature, community, and artistry — made to be used, shared, and cherished for years.
